Thai-American athletics star Kieran Tuntivate confirmed he would take another shot at SEA Games glory when the Kingdom hosts the region’s biennial sporting extravaganza early next month.
The US-based athlete, who specialises in medium and long-distance races, posted on his social media account that Thai fans would see him in flesh at the 33rd SEA Games due to be held between Dec 9-20 in Bangkok, Chon Buri and Songkhla.
“With the SEA Games on horizon, I will compete in the 1,500m, 5,000m and 15,000m events. So excited. See you soon in Bangkok,” Kieran wrote on his Instagram account.
Kieran already tasted victory in all the three events he will compete at the 2025 Games in front of the Thai fans.
The 28-year-old first announced his arrival on regional stage by clinching double triumph in the 5,000m and 15,000m races at the 2019 Games in the Philippines. He repeated the trick with another pair of gold medals in 1,500m and 5,000m events at the previous Games in Phnom Penh two years ago.
Kieran’s presence would considerably enhance Thailand’s chances of ruling the track and field competition, which would be crucial to its bid to reclaim the overall title on home soil.
There are 50 official sports, three demonstration disciplines (Air Sports, Flying Disc and Tug of War) and one “value-added” sport (the mixed martial arts) featuring in the Thai-hosted Games with 574 gold medals up for grabs.
