Defence Minister Phumtham Wechayachai claims that there have not been any security alerts, issued by Israel or Thai security officials, about a possible terrorist attack on Israeli citizens at the Loy Krathong Full Moon Party on Pha-ngan Island tomorrow night.
The Times of Israel reported that Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, had expressed concern over the possibility of attacks on Israeli citizens in Thailand, after Thai police had warned of potential attacks during the Full Moon party.
Meanwhile, Pha-ngan district chief officer Noppadol Khaomalee offered an assurance to those visiting the island for the Full Moon party that the police are, as is usual for such events, on alert to ensure the safety of tourists. He also dismissed the report of possible terrorist attacks during the party tomorrow night.
Pol Col Panya Niratmanon, the police superintendent, said that they have increased checks on those arriving on the island and that there are sufficient officers to cope with the situation.
He added that police are asking resort operators to assure tourists that Pha-ngan Island is safe.
