Police are searching for the two individuals who are alleged to have run a bogus tour company and employment agency for work overseas, after a complaint was filed today with the Crime Suppression Division by 10 of the victims. They claim total damage exceeds 20 million baht.
There are over 150 identified victims, some of whom were defrauded of amounts ranging from tens of thousands to millions of baht.
One said that he bought a 60,000 baht tour to Japan through a Facebook page in 2023. The page looked reliable, as it was continuously active with comments from customers. Just three days before he was due to travel, however, he found himself unable to contact the organisers.
For 2 or 3 months, the company offered excuses and negotiated a gradual refund of his money. Soon after, the company disappeared and shut down the Facebook page and all other communication channels.
Tankhun Jittitsara, the president of the Santiprachatham Club, which has been coordinating this case for the victims, said that the two suspects also defrauded people by tricking them into investing in a mushroom farm, deceiving them into working in the UK and scamming them with tours to Japan.
It has been reported that the suspects have already fled the country.
