Nan Hospital has temporarily suspended outpatient examinations and treatment until Saturday due to flooding in the province, with only emergency cases and patients already admitted for surgery continuing to receive treatment.
In an announcement issued today, the hospital said its accident and emergency services had been relocated to the Nan Provincial Public Health Office, which is being used as a field hospital.
Nan Hospital 2 has also suspended services for patients with appointments today and tomorrow. The hospital said medicines would be delivered to patients instead.
Meanwhile, Nan municipality mayor Surapol Thiansut said water levels had stabilised and were gradually falling. If there are no further adverse factors, the situation is expected to return to normal within four to five hours, he said.
The municipality is continuing to pump water from flooded areas. Once water levels in the watercourses fall to about 8.30 metres, the pumps will be able to operate at full capacity, helping to accelerate drainage, the mayor said.
The municipality will distribute boxed meals to affected residents, particularly those in the Ban Don Kaew and Ban Don Si Serm communities, starting with lunch and dinner.
Provincial authorities have also instructed officials to ensure that people staying at temporary shelters, as well as field workers, receive three meals a day.
