Thai athletes heading to the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, will carry more than just their competitive drive onto the global stage—they will wear their national pride on their sleeves.

On Friday, luxury fashion house SIRIVANNAVARI unveiled the official ceremonial uniforms for the Kingdom’s delegation, showcasing traditional Thai handwoven textiles reimagined through contemporary design.

Designed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, the brand’s Creative Director, the collection was created at the invitation of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

The uniforms aim to boost morale for the more than 900 athletes and team officials while demonstrating the strength of Thai craftsmanship at Asia’s premier sporting event, which runs from September 19 to October 4, 2026.

“Our intention is for everyone to experience a sense of pride and unity through the story of Thailand that’s woven into every detail,” said Ms. Ratirod Chulajata, Deputy CEO of SIRIVANNAVARI, at the launch event at Fairmont Bangkok Sukhumvit.

The collection, titled “The Art of Unity”, showcases sustainable, naturally indigo-dyed handwoven cotton from the Donkoi Model initiative in Sakon Nakhon province, blended with fabrics from the SUPPORT Foundation of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. The labour-intensive weaving process mirrors the dedication and discipline of the athletes themselves.

The official promotional campaign highlights prominent Thai sports figures, including world champion badminton player Kunlavut Vitidsarn, Olympic taekwondo medallist Banlung Tubtimdang, volleyball star Pimpichaya Kokram, table tennis player Suthasini Sawettabut, and legendary taekwondo champion Panipak Wongpattanakit.

Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul praised the collaboration, calling it an essential platform for cultural diplomacy and noting that the designs effectively translate traditional heritage into a modern, international fashion language.

The collection comprises four pieces designed for both male and female athletes.

A three-pocket suit jacket is made from handwoven cotton and cut in a SIRIVANNAVARI silhouette, with details representing Thailand’s national team. It is paired with a white shirt featuring an elongated pointed collar and an embroidered chest panel incorporating elements representing the cultural connection between Thailand and Japan.

Coordinated trousers are made from suiting fabric and feature side openings at the hem, an adjustable waist and the brand’s peacock emblem. A necktie finished with SIRIVANNAVARI’s signature “Diamond Knot” completes the ensemble.

The design aims to balance the formal appearance expected of a ceremonial uniform with mobility and practicality for the athletes wearing it.
