King and Queen preside over Royal cremation of General Prem Tinsulanonda

Their Majesties the King and Queen are presiding over the Royal cremation of General Prem Tinsulanonda, the late president of the Privy Council and statesman, at Wat Debsirindrawas this evening.

 

At 10.30am this morning, acting president of the Privy Council General Surayuth Chulanont, on behalf of HM the King, performed a merit making ceremony at the Songtham Throne Hall, in the compound of Wat Benjamaborpit Dusitwanaram.

At 1pm, General Surayuth, on behalf of HM the King, presided over the ceremony to move General Prem’s Royal urn, from the Songtham Throne Hall to Wat Debsirindrawas, for cremation.

 

The procession left Wat Benjamaborpit Dusitwanaram at 1.30pm bound for Wat Dhepsirin, about three kilometres away. The cortege moved slowly into Sri Ayudhya Road, then via Ratchadamnoen and Krung Kasem roads through Thevakam, Saphan Khao and Kasatsoek intersections toward Wat Dhepsirin School and into Luang Road before arriving at Wat Debsirindrawas through the southern gate.

Their Majesties the King and Queen preside over the Royal cremation at 5pm.
