German businessman remains missing in Thailand

The family of missing German businessman Hans Peter Ralter Mack, 62, who lived in Chon Buri province, asked the deputy national police chief on Monday to help in locating him. He has been missing for almost a week.

The family has offered a reward of Bt3 million to anyone who can provide information about Mack’s whereabouts.

The man went missing from his home in Bang Lamung district of Chon Buri province, with his Mercedes Benz, on July 4th when he reportedly went to meet a foreign broker in Pattaya, regarding a land deal on Samui Island in Surat Thani province. He has not been heard from since.

On July 9th, his car was found abandoned in a temporary parking lot at a condominium in Nong Prue district in Chon Buri.

His partner for five years, “Phiriya”, said that, on the day he went missing, Mack had a lunch appointment with her at 1pm.

When he failed to show up, she tried to call but without success. Later, a message was sent to her mobile phone, claiming he would call back. She said, however, that he hadnever sent her a text message before.

She tried to call him again but to no avail, until 10pm when she received another text message sent from his mobile phone, saying he was still with the client.

She asked whoever has taken him to bring him back and to explain what they want.

“I still have hope that he is still alive and returns home safely,” she said.

One of his two sons told reporters that he would like to see his father return as soon as possible.

Forensic examination of the vehicle has found evidence of cleaning on the front and rear seats, the steering wheel and on the gear shift.
