Five Thai women, who were among 107 people sent back to Thailand by Myanmar immigration officials via the immigration checkpoint at the second Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge in Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai today (Friday), have tested positive for COVID-19.

The women were immediately sent to Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital for treatment, while the remainder were isolated at local quarantine facilities in Mae Sai for 14 days. Those who worked at the 1G1 Hotel in Thachilek were quarantined separately at a hotel in the same district.

The returnees include 31 men, 73 women and three boys.

Upon arrival at the immigration checkpoint, all the 107 were given swab and blood tests by Thai health officials as local officials recorded their personal details.
