The entire city of Bangkok is covered with PM2.5 airborne dust today, averaging 55.2µg/m³ (microns), which exceeds the standard/safe level of 37.5µg/m³. The most polluted area is Bang Rak district, where the PM2.5 level is 66.5µg/m³ this morning.
The 12 worst affected areas, listed by the Air Quality Information Center (AQIC) of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, are:
- Bang Rak, 66.5µg/m³
- Nong Khaem, 64.9µg/m³
- Sai Ma, 64.8µg/m³
- Prawet, 64.5µg/m³
- Pathumwan, 63.3µg/m³
- Bang Khor Laem, 61.2µg/m³
- Taling Chan, 61.1µg/m³
- Klong Sam Wa, 60.7µg/m³
- Min Buri, 60.4µg/m³
- Lat Krabang, 60µg/m³
- Bang Khun Thian, 59.3µg/m³
- Bang Phlat, 59.1µg/m³
The AQIC said that the air quality in the capital, which is tending to deteriorate, has started to pose a threat to people’s health, especially to the vulnerable. People who go outdoors to exercise or for other activities are strongly advised to wear face masks at all times.
