Police are seeking warrants from the Criminal Court for the arrests of two more suspects in connection with Dr Boon Vanasin’s alleged investment scam, after police took another of the fugitive doctor’s daughters into custody on November 28.
Pol Lt-Gen Samran Nualma, the assistant national police chief in charge of Boon’s case, said on Monday that they arrested Navara Vanasin on charges of defrauding the public and money laundering in connection with the alleged investment scam, which has cost its investors an estimated 7.5 billion baht.
He declined to elaborate about the two additional suspects.
To date, charges have been filed against ten people, including Dr. Boon, founder and former chairman of Thonburi Healthcare Group (THG), his former wife Charuwan and daughter, Nalin.
Armed with warrants, police searched two of Boon’s offices yesterday, one in the Rama 9 area, to look for evidence. Several documents, including copies of title deeds and advertising material, were confiscated.
Pol Lt-Gen Samran said that Thai Interpol has already coordinated with Interpol to issue a Red Notice for Boon, who is believed to have fled to China on September 29.
The alleged scam concerns five non-existing medical-related projects in Thailand, Laos and Vietnam.
