Police have arrested a woman on suspicion of involvement in the robbery and murder of the mother-in-law of a public prosecutor in the eastern province of Rayong.
The car, believed to belong to the suspect identified as “Kamonwan”, was seen in CCTV footage from a shop opposite the house of the victim, identified as “Wanna”, parked in front of the house to pick the victim up on Friday at about 4pm.
The victim did not return home and was reported missing by her family. Her body, with two fingers amputated, was later found in an oil palm plantation in Wang Chan district.
Two diamond rings, one 2.65 ounce gold chain, a 1.59 ounce gold bracelet and some cash were missing and are thought to have been stolen.
Police suspect that the perpetrators cut off the victim’s two fingers to remove the two diamond rings.
Police traced the white sedan seen in the CCTV footage to its owner, Kamonwan, and decided to obtain an arrest warrant for her from the court yesterday.
The suspect has denied all the charges. Police, meanwhile, are still looking for her husband, whose identity has not been disclosed.
