Pol Gen Tatchai Pitaneelaboot, the police inspector general, says that Wang Xing, the Chinese actor who is also known as Xingxing, was the victim of human trafficking, but he is now safe, after being returned to Thailand on Tuesday, and will return home when he is ready to travel.
According to Tatchai, Xingxing is currently in good spirits.
In a statement to the press earlier, the actor said that 'Thailand is very safe' and that he wants to come back again for a holiday.
He will now be processed through the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) and the Chinese embassy in Bangkok will facilitate his return to China.
The police inspector general said that the investigation is now focused on the scammers who lured him to Thailand in the first place.
The Chinese actor had travelled from Pudong airport in Shanghai and landed at Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok on January 3rd. He subsequently went missing near the Thai-Myanmar border, in Mae Sot district of Tak province, and was located 4 days later.
