Six Myanmar nationals and one Thai were killed when a pick-up truck crashed into a roadside power pole and plunged into a ditch in Bang Len district of Nakhon Pathom province at about 11.30pm last night.
Before the accident, the pickup truck was seen parked on the roadside, opposite the Provincial Electricity Authority office in Bang Lane district. Police, in a patrol car, became suspicious and turned around to approach the truck.
The truck driver sped off and was pursued by the police, until the truck rammed into a utility pole and plunged into the ditch.
Police say all five female Myanmar nationals in the back of the truck, the male Thai driver and male Myanmar national in the front seat were killed by the force of the impact.
Pol Lt-Col Pratchaya Buranat, undertaking the investigation, said today that none of relatives of the deceased have contacted police to claim the bodies.
He said he will contact the Foreign Ministry, to seek help in contacting the victims’ relatives.
