Interpol will be asked by Thai police to find a Moroccan man wanted by police on suspicion of murdering his Thai boyfriend in Chiang Mai on Friday.
The victim, only identified as “Thitikarn”, the owner of a beauty clinic, was found dead in a room on the third floor of the clinic by a cleaner on Friday, who immediately notified the police.
Pol Maj-Gen Thawatchai Pongwiwattanachai, the provincial police commander, says that they have checked CCTV footage at and around the clinic and believe that the Moroccan was involved in the murder because he was the last person seen with the victim.
Footage shows the two men alighting from a car and entering the clinic at about 8pm on December 4th. At about 2am of the next day, the Moroccan was seen in the footage driving a car away from the clinic.
The car was then abandoned on Moon Muang Road and the Moroccan is seen hailing a tuk-tuk to take him to the provincial airport.
Police think that jealousy could be a motive for the murder.
