Former actor-turned-businessman Rattapoom Tokongsup reported to Crime Suppression Division officers today, to acknowledge a charge of attempted extortion, accusing him, with another person, of demanding 20 million baht from an executive of iCon Group, in return for arranging for an appearance on the popular “Hone Krasae” TV talk show.
Accompanied by his lawyer, Rattapoom denied attempted extortion, and a defamation charge, filed against him by the host of “Hone Krasae”, Kanchai Kamnerdploy.
His lawyer, Pramarn Luangwattanawanich, told the media that he is not worried about the two charges, which he described as weak. The former actor says he has sufficient evidence to prove his innocence.
The iCon executive is one of 18 currently held on remand on charges of defrauding public and money laundering for allegedly operating a pyramid scheme.
