One of the celebrities linked to the iCon Group e-commerce company, Peechaya Wattanamontree, admitted today that she was a communications director for the company and one of their product presenters, but has now stopped working for them.
She denied having earned the speculated 100 million baht while working for the company for about a year.
Speaking at a press conference this afternoon, Peechaya said she decided to talk to the media about her version of the controversy pertaining to iCon Group in a spirit of transparency.
She said that she was called “Boss Min”, because the company wanted to honour her, adding that, in fact, she was just an employee working as the communications director and product presenter.
She claimed that she joined the company about a year ago and, like the other celebrities involved, believed that the company was legitimate. She did not check the detailed background the company more carefully, but insisted that she has never accepted jobs from “grey” business.
Peechaya offered an apology to any investors who have suffered losses from their dealings with iCon.
Meanwhile, Sittra Biabungkerd, secretary-general of the People’s Lawyer Foundation, has filed a complaint with the Central Investigation Bureau against six executives of iCon Group, accusing them of defrauding the public and money laundering.
More than 90 investors have already filed complaints with the police, claiming that they have lost a combined total of about 30 million baht in investments in the company.
