Weather across Thailand is expected to become cooler and windier over the next 24 hours, with temperatures in most parts of the country forecast to drop by 1–3°C. The change is due to a strong high-pressure system from China that is currently covering the northern and northeastern regions, according to the Meteorological Department today.
In the northern region, minimum temperatures are forecast at 11–16°C in lowland areas, while temperatures in mountainous areas may fall to 2–10°C. Northeasterly winds are expected at speeds of 10–25 kilometres per hour.
In the northeastern provinces, conditions will be cold and windy, with minimum temperatures of 11–16°C in lowland areas and 6–10°C in mountainous areas. Wind speeds are forecast at 15–35 kilometres per hour.
The central region will also experience cold and windy conditions, with minimum temperatures falling to 14–18°C. Wind speeds are expected to range from 10–30 kilometres per hour.
The eastern region will be windy and cool, with minimum temperatures of 16–21°C. Seas will be choppy, with waves of 1–2 metres near shore and up to two metres offshore.
Bangkok and its surrounding areas will be cold and windy, with temperatures forecast to drop by 1–2°C to a minimum of 18–22°C. Wind speeds are expected to range between 10 and 30 kilometres per hour.
The southern east coast will remain cool in the morning, with temperatures decreasing by 1–3°C. Rainstorms are forecast across 40% of the region, with isolated heavy rain expected in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani and Yala provinces. Seas will be rough, with waves of 2–3 metres and over three metres in stormy areas.
