Arrest warrants issued for suspects in murder of German businessman

A Thai court has issued arrest warrants for two suspects linked to the gruesome murder of German real estate broker, Hans Peter Mack, in Chon Buri province.

The suspects were identified as German national Olaf Thorsten Brinkmann and Thai national Petra Christl Grundgreif.

Chon Buri’s Nong Prue police commander, Pol Col Thavee Kudtang, said the warrant for the arrest of Brinkmann was issued after police examined security camera footage and saw him sitting in the back of a pickup truck, next to the freezer in which police later found the dismembered body of Mack.

Grundgreif is thought to have acted as a decoy, to lure Mack to his death. They are wanted for allegedly conspiring to murder and concealing, transporting and destroying a body.

Some media outlets claim that police are gathering evidence to charge a third suspect, a Pakistani national, for involvement in the crime.

The body of Mack was found in a rented home in Pattaya on Monday and the identity was confirmed early this morning (Tuesday).

His dismembered body was discovered in a large freezer in the house, after police had tracked his movements via CCTV since he was reported missing on July 4th.

The white freezer, which was plugged in, was sealed with black tape.

Police said thirteen human parts, believed to have been severed using a small electric chainsaw, were found stuffed inside a black plastic bag in the freezer.

According to the Nong Prue police, the freezer was transported to the house in question in the bed of a pickup truck, allegedly belonging to Olaf.

The truck was first driven into Nong Hin Soi 5 and then left the lane with the freezer securely covered in the truck’s bed. It then travelled to the house where the body of Mack was found.
