Rural Roads Department has ordered water sprayers to be installed on several bridges in Bangkok, in a bid to reduce dust in the atmosphere, the department’s chief Montri Dechasakulsom said today.
Sprayers have already installed on the Rama 5, Rama 7, Pinklao, Krung Thon and Bhumibol bridges, he said, adding that road construction contractors have also been asked to spray water on trucks leaving construction sites and on roads to remove dust from the surface.
In Bangkok today, 14 districts are in the Orange (unhealthy for sensitive groups) category, with the concentration of PM2.5 dust in the atmosphere exceeding the 37.5 µg/m³ safety threshold. The average level of PM2.5 today was measured at 35.3µg/m³.
