The cabinet approved a ministerial regulation today, prohibiting students from using electronic cigarettes, hookahs or psychotropic substances.
Under the regulation proposed by the Ministry of Education, students who are caught using any of these items will initially face a warning for the first offence, followed by a probation, and cuts in behavioural scores up to activities designed to change their behaviour.
Since the Ministry of Education has no authority to seize such items, Education Minister Permpoon Chidchob hopes that the police and other authorities will confiscate them, many of which are believed to be smuggled into the country.
