Violence in Thailand’s southernmost province of Pattani continued last night, when a 43-year-old police sergeant was killed in an ambush on his police box in Muang district.
Initial investigations show that the assailants sprayed the box with bullets shortly before midnight, which was followed by a 20-minute exchange of gunfire.
After assailants had fled, it was discovered that Pol Senior Sergeant Major Banjerd Puttancharoen had been killed by a gunshot to the head.
