An elderly woman was killed and six other people were injured in a cooking gas explosion at a house on an estate in Muang district of Pathum Thani this morning.
The body of a 64-year-old woman, whose identity was not known at the time of writing, was found in the kitchen of her two-storey townhouse, which caught fire after the explosion, thought to have been caused by gas leak.
Two adjoining town houses sustained serious damage from the force of the explosion and ensuing fire. Firefighters did manage to get the blaze under control and save the two adjoining houses.
The six injured, some of whom suffered burns, were given first-aid treatment at the scene by EMTs before being rushed to a nearby hospital.
Muang district police say that the house in which the gas explosion occurred had been converted into a beauty salon. Four people live in the house, including the deceased.
