The Kesa Komon Bridge in Bangkok’s Dusit district will remain closed for at least five more days for major repairs, after the approach road to the bridge collapsed Sunday night, leaving a sinkhole about three metres deep, ten metres long and five metres wide, due to the construction of a dam in the Prem Prachakon Canal.
Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt said today that a 200m stretch of the Amnuay Songkhram Road will also be closed to traffic, to facilitate the movement of heavy machinery into the area for repairs to the bridge and the approach road.
Motorists who want to use the Amnuay Songkhram Road are advised to turn onto Rama 5 Road, turn right at the Pichai intersection and onto Nakhon Chaisri Road.
Meanwhile, officials from the Government Sector Anti-Corruption Commission visited the scene of the road cave-in today, to make enquiries about the ongoing construction of the dam.
