Mae Hong Son, Trang and Ayutthaya provinces are popular foreign tourist destinations, while interest in secondary destinations, such as Satun, Phetchaburi, Narathiwat, Rayong, Kalasin, Buri Ram and Songkhla, is increasing, according to Government spokesman Chai Wacharonke.
Citing the Airbnb platform, Chai said that there is a significant change taking place in tourist choices. For instance, he said that use of the platform to search for lodgings in Mae Hong Son and Trang have both increased by a significant 143%.
Interest among foreign tourists in Ayutthaya, Thailand’s old capital and a historic site, also rose significantly, said Chai, adding that even Narathiwat, one of the restive southernmost provinces, is on the tourist map, with an 87% increase in Airbnb platform search for reservations.
Acting in response to the Airbnb search data, Chai said the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is cooperating with Line Company to present goods and services through https://amazingthailand365.tourismthailand.org, coupled with the use of Generative AI technology to arrange tailor-made trips to meet the wishes of individual tourists and tourist groups.
From August 23 until September 13, tourists can purchase vouchers, which will enable them to buy goods at a discount from about 1,000 stores on the Line shopping platform, said Chai.
