Thai Government’s financial support under stimulus schemes are tax free

All the financial support received by individuals and corporate entities from the government, such as subsidies under the co-payment scheme, hotel discount coupons and subsidies to ease hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic last year, will be exempt from taxation.

Government Spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said that today (Monday) the cabinet decided to exempt from taxation the financial support provided under 12 Government schemes, leading to 31.9 billion baht in losses.

These schemes include:

  • Subsidies provided under the 50:50 co-payment scheme.
  • Discounts on food, hotel lodging, tourist trips and air fares under the “Rao Tiew Duay Kan” (We Travel Together)  scheme.
  • Support for public health volunteers and hospital officials for the purchase of package tours under the “Kamlang Jai” (Morale Boosting) program.
  • Subsidies for welfare card holders to buy goods from Blue Flag stores and other stores in the co-payment scheme.
  • E-vouchers to buy food, drinks and other goods and services under the “Ying Chai Ying Dai” (the More You Spend, the More You Get) program.
  • Subsidies for people who are not government officials or those covered by the social security scheme under the “Rao Chana” (We Win) scheme.
