756 new COVID-19 cases recorded on Thursday

CCSA deputy spokesperson, Dr. Apisamai Srirangsan, has announced that Thailand recorded 756 new COVID-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative total to 16,221.

Among the new infections are 746 locally transmitted cases, mostly found through proactive screening, and 10 cases from abroad.

With no new fatalities, the national COVID-19 death toll remains 76.

Currently there are 4,261 people receiving treatment in hospitals, 10 of whom are in a critical condition. 233 new recoveries have also been recorded, bringing that total to 11,287.

Meanwhile, Samut Sakhon found 733 new infections last night, most of whom were found through proactive screening, bringing the cumulative number of infections in the province to 8,080.

Dr. Apisamai also reported cumulative imported infections in quarantine has reached 180,000 cases since last April, 170,000 of whom have recovered.

In the latest outbreak, the virus has spread to 63 provinces. 47 provinces have found no new infections in the last seven days, with another 14 provinces still free from the contagion.

The CCSA will discuss the easing of some restrictions.
