Myanmar worker dead, 12 injured in bus accident in Tak

One Myanmar migrant worker was killed and 12 others were injured, six of them seriously, when a bus carrying them from the border province of Tak to Bangkok breached a road curve and jumped onto the opposite lane before overturning.

The accident took place at a spot between kilometer markers 66-67 of the Asian highway in Tambon Mae Thor, Tak province.

Rescue workers found one dead victim and 12 injured, six of them in serious condition.  All the injured were later rushed to Taksin Maharaj hospital in Muang district of Tak.

Police said the bus took 35 Myanmar migrant workers from Mae Sod district to be sent to work places in Bangkok and neighbouring provinces. They suspected that the bus driver might be speeding and the road condition at the scene of the accident was declining downhill where several accidents were previously reported.
