Seven people were killed and two others missing in a landslide caused by heavy rain in a village in Bo Klua district of Nan province in the North this morning.

The landslide reportedly occurred at abut 6.10am when earth and rocks fell downhill over four houses in Huay Khab village in Tambon Bo Klua Nua.

Responding to a request from the disaster prevention and mitigation office of Bo Klua district, Col Rattana Pattanasophon, commander of the 32nd Ranger Regiment of the Pha Muang Force, dispatched four rescue teams to the area for a search and rescue operation.

It was initially reported that seven people were killed and two others were still missing. One of those killed was identified as Tui Jaiping, 49.

The search was carried out with difficulty as it was raining and the four houses were covered in mud.
