The Thai Meteorological Department has warned people throughout the country to brace for rain, isolated heavy rain, and flash floods during July 12-15 as a result of the monsoon trough lying across the North of Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam.
According to the department’s 5 am weather forecast on Thursday (July 12), the rain will be widespread over the North, the Northeast, the Central and the East of Thailand.
At the same time, the strong southwest monsoon lies over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. During July 11-15, sea waves are likely to be 2-4 meters high in the Andaman Sea and 2-3 meters high in the upper Gulf of Thailand from Surat Thani province northward.
All vessels are advised to proceed with caution while small boats should remain ashore.
Torrential rain is likely to prevail over the South. Residents living along the coastlines should stay alert for possible inshore surges, said the department.
The sky over Bangkok and nearby provinces will be cloudy. Thunderstorms and isolated heavy rain will cover 70% of the area.
