Three new capybara at Khao Kheow open zoo
Visitors to the Khao Kheow open zoo in Chon Buri province can now get a glimpse of three young capybara, which were born in the zoo on May 5th.
The zoo now boasts 14 capybara, including 10 female and four male.
Capybara is a giant cavy rodent native to South America. It is the largest living rodent and a member of the genus Hydrochoerus.
The animal inhabits savannas and dense forests and lives near bodies of water. It is a highly social species and can be found in groups as large as 100, but usually live in groups of 10-20. It is not considered a threatened species.
