This year, the Trade Policy and Strategy Office predicted that tourism spending would reach Bt47 billion during the “World Songkran festival”.

That includes travel expenses, accommodation and food. A portion of that spending will also go on Songkran related items.

TPSO reported that most people will celebrate Songkran out of Bangkok, in places like Chonburi, Chiang Mai, Khon Kean and Phuket.

The report also indicates that the percentage of people who spend over 10,000 baht will increase during the Songkran holiday.
