There will be no Democrat or United Thai Nation party in Srettha’s coalition

Pheu Thai party prime ministerial candidate Srettha Thavisin has reportedly told the party that, if he is to be the next prime minister, he will oversee the cabinet arrangement himself. He will take part in negotiations with coalition parties and there will be no Democrat or United Thai Nation party representation in his coalition.

Srettha, however, subsequently denied having made such stipulations when he met the media later, adding that all the conditions have to be discussed with the other 7 parties in the coalition.

During the discussion about setting up a government under his leadership, Srettha reportedly said no to the Democrats and United Thai Nation because they joined the protest against Yingluck Shinawatra’s administration. He is, however, willing to work with the Palang Pracharath party, but only if Prawit Wongsuwan does not take a cabinet seat.

Srettha also said that the Move Forward party will definitely be in his coalition, so the government would get full support from the people, adding that he will ask Pheu Thai not to nominate anyone with a bad reputation for a ministerial post, to reduce public resistance.
