Future Forward party’s outspoken leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit has hit back at his accusers with criminal defamation lawsuits over their allegations that he wants to overthrow the Monarchy.

Acting on behalf of Mr. Thanathorn, party spokesperson Ms.Pannika Wanich went, with lawyers, to the Criminal Court this morning to lodge a libel suit against well-known staunch royalist M.C. Julajerm Yugala for accusing the party leader of saying he wants to abolish Thailand’s Monarchy on his Facebook page, questioning Thanathorn’s “desire to complete the unfinished mission of the 1932 coup makers”.

Another libel complaint was lodged against the pro-junta T-news website which uploaded M.C. Julajerm’s allegedly inflammatory comment on social media.

Defamation lawsuits were also lodged with the court against individuals who shared an allegedly fake news item accusing Thanathorn of owning an illegal saw mill.

The Future Forward party, especially its leader, have become thetarget of a smear campaign for its unconventional policies, such as the scrapping of military conscription, substantial cutbacks indefence spending and its alleged anti-Monarchy stance.
