Future Forward party leader Thanathorn Jungroongruangkit has blamed the Constitution for the creation of the Thai Raksa Chart (Thai Nation Protection) party, which is widely seen as an offshoot of the former ruling Pheu Thai party.

Speaking to the media during a campaign to reach out to people in Patpong area on Friday night, the young firebrand politician said the Constitution was designed to weaken political parties and it was framed by people who viewed political parties as just vested interest groups of people.

“Because of this rule of the game, everyone must try to play this tactic in order to win (the election),” said Thanathorn, referring to the founding of a string of new political parties as spin-offs of  from Pheu Thai.

Commenting on the political timeline disclosed by Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam, the Future Forward party leader noted that the most important issue for now is the lifting of political restrictions so parties can engage in political activities freely.

“All parties are now ready for the February 24 election, there is no point for the NCPO (National Council for Peace and Order) to postpone the election,” he said.

Wearing a black T-shirts bearing the party’s logo in rainbow colour with a message which reads “we are all human” and “love is love” LGBT, Thanathorn led party’s core members and a few new members, including Rangsiman Rome of a pro-election activist group, on a visit to Patpong redlight district to woo night revelers and transgenders.
