The Thai Embassy in Madrid, Spain, has warned Thai people living in or travelling to Barcelona to avoid protest areas and to keep themselves abreast of the latest news about the protests in the city before travelling this weekend.

The Embassy said that protests were planned for today (Saturday) on Calle de la Marina Road and tomorrow at Plaza Artos and Paseo de Gradia and Calle Provenca, with large crowds expected, which might disrupt travel.

The Embassy said, during the protests, opportunists might try to take advantage of the disruption to commit crimes.  Tourist attractions in Barcelona may be affected.

Sagrada Familia, the metro station serving Barcelona’s iconic Basílica de la Sagrada Família, is due to close at 4pm local time today.

Thai people in Barcelona who need help can contact the embassy on 00 34 660 24 2507 or Line ID: hotlinemadrid 24/7.
