Anti-government protests were held today by pro-democracy groups in Thailand’s northern provinces of Chiang Mai and Phitsanuloke and the northeastern province of Maha Sarakham.

The protesters repeated their demands for the dissolution of Parliament, a new Constitution and an end to perceived harassment of political activists by officials.

In Chiang Mai, the protesters rallied at the Tha Pae Gate, despite a police warning that they had to disperse by 6pm, because the protest was a violation of the current state emergency as the organizers had not sought prior police approval.

In Phitsanuloke, protesting students and members of the public rallied in front of Phra Srimahatat Maha Vihaan Temple, or Wat Yai.

In Maha Sarakham province, they demonstrated at the City Pillar Shrine.

All three protests were peaceful.
