The suspect in  the double murder that took place at Khao Cheechan in Chon Buri on July 29 has confessed to the national police chief that he ordered the couple to be put to death.

Panya Yingdang, aka Sia Oun, was questioned by Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda, the national police chief, and inquiry officers at the Royal Thai Police on Wednesday after he was released by Cambodian officials and escorted back to Bangkok by Thai police on Tuesday night.

According to the police chief, Sia Oun admitted he ordered the killing of 20-year old Ms Paveena Namuangrak and 21-year old Anantachai Charitram at Khao Cheechan with several other people carrying out the murder.

Besides Sia Oun, five others were involved in the murder and have been arrested.

The suspect was taken to Khao Cheechan on Wednesday afternoon for an re-enactment of the alleged crime.  Ms Paveena’s mother, Mrs Wanpen, was also present at the crime scene during the re-enactment.

She told reporters that she would not accept an apology from the suspect and would like to ask him why he killed her daughter.

After the re-enactment session, Sia Oun was taken to Najomthien police station in Chon Buri for detention as he was to be taken to the Pattaya provincial court on Thursday to have his detention extended.
