Privy councilor Kamthon dies of blood poisoning

Privy councilor Kamthon Sindhavanond died of septicemia this morning at the age of 97.

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will preside over the Royal bathing ceremony tomorrow at Wat Benjamaborpit. A Royal religious ceremony will be held for seven days at the temple.

Air Chief Marshal Kamthon served in the Royal Thai Air Force until 1960, when he quit his post as a squadron leader to join the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, then called the Yanhee Electricity Authority.

He worked with EGAT and was appointed its governor, replacing Mr. Kasem Chatikavanich in 1985.  After two years, he left and was appointed a member of the Privy Council, a position in which he served until his passing today.
