The air quality in 77 areas of Bangkok and its suburbs, measured in the past 24 hours, was below standard with the amount of PM2.5 dust in atmosphere exceeding 37.5 microns, according to the Pollution Control Department.

With the exception of Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, Nong Khai and Kalasin, the department reported that air quality is above standard, which means that the amount of PM2.5 dust is below 37.5 microns.

Among the areas in Bangkok where the air quality is poor are:

• Ma Charoen Road, off Phankasem 81 in Nong Khaem district, 61 microns.
• Kanchanapisek Road, in Bang Khun Thian district, 59 microns.
• Traimit Road, Odeon circle, in Samphanthawong district, 58 microns.
• Yaek Tha Phra Road, in Bangkok Yai district, 58 microns.
• Khlong Kum sub-district, 57 microns.
• Thung Wat Don sub-district, 57 microns.
• Thawee Wanarom park, in Thawee Wattana district, 56 microns.
• Rama 8 Road, in Bang Phlad district, 56 microns.
• Charoen Nakhon Road, Khlong San district, 56 microns.
• Ratchadapisek-Tha Phra Road, in Thon Buri district, 56 microns.

The amount of PM2.5 dust in Bangkok and suburbs was measured at between 14 and 62 microns in the past 24 hours.

In the northern region, PM2.5 was measured at between 4.8 and 24.1 microns. In the Northeast, 10.0-42.2 microns. Central and western regions, 22.7-37.5 microns. The eastern region, 13.0-25.6 microns and the southern region, 7.2-12.5 microns.

Since June 1^st, Thailand has adopted a new air quality standard, by setting the standard for amount of PM2.5 in the atmosphere at not more than 37.5 microns, down from 50 microns. PM2.5 measured at 75.1 microns is regarded being a threat to health.
