Chartthaipattana Party leader Varawut Silpa-archa said today that it may be preferable for him to continue as Social Development and Human Security Minister in the new government.
“Discussions with my party members have concluded that we have the opportunity to work closely with the people, as I did under the Srettha Thavisin government. Therefore, it might be better if I continue in that role,” Varawut said.
He noted, however, that the decision is one for Pheu Thai, the core party in forming the Paetongtarn Shinawatra government.
There is speculation, however, that Varawut may become the Foreign Minister, because he studied abroad. Varawut was the only Chartthaipattana Party member in the Srettha Thavisin cabinet.
He added that his party has already submitted the name of its proposed minister to Prommin Lertsuridej, the PM’s secretary-general.
