Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra is visiting the southern provinces of Phatthalung and Songkhla today and tomorrow and is scheduled to hold a mobile cabinet meeting tomorrow at Prince of Songkhla University in Hat Yai district.
The prime minister and her delegation have busy schedules today, including a visit to Talay Noi viewpoint in Kuan Khanun district of Phatthalung, to discuss the management and development of Songkhla Lake, a visit to Thai Union Seafood Company in Singha Nakhon district in Songkhla.
Then, they will travel to Muang district for a discussion with provincial officials and representatives of the tourism industry about the development of the old town of Songkhla as a tourist attraction.
The prime minister will chair the first mobile cabinet meeting of this year at Prince of Songkhla University tomorrow morning, after which she and her delegation will travel to Sadao district to observe border trade between Thailand and Malaysia and to follow up the construction of a new customs checkpoint.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister Phumtham Wechayachai is in Pattani province today, for a meeting with the commander of the Fourth Army Region, in his capacity as the director of Internal Security Operations Command’s Fourth Region, and representatives of other security agencies for a review of strategic plans for the restive Deep South.
After the meeting at the Sirindhorn barracks in Pattani, Phumtham will travel to Hat Yai district for another meeting with representatives of the 9th Region Provincial Police Bureau, the Southern Border Provinces Administration Centre and the National Security Council.
He will attend the mobile cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
