The Cabinet approved the appointment today of PM’s office minister Chusak Sirinil to oversee the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), in place of Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong.
On May 14th, the Constitutional Court issued an injunction, suspending Tawee from supervising the DSI and from the vice chairmanship of the Special Case Board, in response to a petition filed by a group of senators accusing the DSI of interfering in the responsibilities of the Election Commission in the probe into alleged Senate election collusion.
A government legal expert, Chusak said that his appointment is normal procedure to replace the justice minister in an acting capacity.
Asked about the vice chairmanship of the Special Case Board, Chusak said there is no need for him to get involved in that capacity, because he is not the justice minister.
