With the censure only just over a day away, the political temperature has been heating up, with Pheu Thai MP Anusorn Iamsa-ard accusing the People’s Party of trying to use the debate to insight chaos in parliament.
He pointed out that the opposition People’s Party has singled out Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra as the sole target for the 2-day censure debate, because they want to attack the prime minister and provoke protests and chaos in the House.
He said that the performance of opposition MPs during the debate will not be measured by their presentations, but by how provocative they were.
Nonetheless, he claimed that Pheu Thai’s 20 speakers, assigned to defend the prime minister, are fully aware of the People’s Party’s modus operandi and have prepared countermeasures.
He described the opposition party’s plot as “uncreative”, which will only server to increase people’s boredom with politics, as reflected in a recent poll which revealed that most people want to hear General Prawit Wongsuwan, leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, speak in parliament for the first time in many years.
Anusorn then mocked the People’s Party for having to eat its own words, after they had stated that there would be no “loong” (uncle) in the same political camp (in reference to General Prawit or General Prayut Chan-o-cha), only to find Prawit and his party join the People’s Party in opposition after leaving the governing coalition.
Now, they are collaborating in the censure debate against the prime minister, he added.
