House Speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha said today that the draft entertainment complex bill will not be debated during the House meeting today. It has been postponed until April 9 at the earliest.
He admitted that he was unaware that the government-sponsored bill had been added to today’s agenda, because he was participating in traditional events to mark the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan when the bill was submitted by the Pheu Thai party.
It was accepted by Phichit Chuamuangpan, the first Deputy House Speaker, and was added to the meeting agenda as the 15th item. The bill was then moved to the first agenda item, as an urgent issue for deliberation today, said Wan.
According to Wan, however, the bill could not have been debated today, because copies of it would need to have been distributed in advance for all MPs for study.
The urgent issue actually being discussed in the parliament today is the impact of last Friday’s earthquake, said Wan.
