The prime minister has assigned his Secretary General, Dr. Prommin Lertsuridej, to attend the Constitutional Court session on his behalf tomorrow, when a ruling will be delivered as to whether he violated the constitution by appointing to the cabinet a former lawyer, who had served prison time for contempt of court over an alleged attempt to bribe court staff.
If the Court rules against him, Srettha Thavisin will be stripped of his premiership.
Srettha said Dr. Prommin will attend on his behalf due to his tight schedule.
When asked what he was doing tomorrow, that prevents him from attending hearing, he said he is not sure, adding, “What I can remember is that I have a busy schedule.”
Srettha faces dismissal after a group of senators filed a petition alleging that he violated the constitution by appointing Pichit Chuenban, a long-time legal representative of the Shinawatra family.
