Political stalemate solution sought by Pheu Thai and United Thai Nation

Core party members of United Thai Nation, led by party leader Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, met with key members of Pheu Thai on Saturday afternoon to discuss solutions to the political stalemate.

Pirapan briefly told the media before the meeting that the party’s political stand remains unchanged, which is it rejects the Move Forward party as well as its proposal to amend the lese majeste law. He also said that the discussion today did not concern Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha after he has quit as strategic chief of the party.

After the meeting, Pheu Thai party leader Chonlanan Srikaew said that the discussion today with the United Thai Nation party as well as an earlier meeting with the Bhumjaithai party is within the framework of the eight coalition parties to seek support from MPs and senators for Pheu Thai’s prime ministerial candidate to be nominated to the parliament for selection this Thursday.

He said Pheu Thai party has not invited the two parties to join its coalition to form the government.

Pirapan also said after the meeting that the two parties did not discuss about the formation of the government.
