Pheu Thai seeks support from Bhumjaithai, which has reservations about Move Forward

The Bhumjaithai party has informed the Pheu Thai party that it cannot join the coalition in their bid to form a government with the Move Forward party still part of it.

Pheu Thai party leader Chonlanan Srikaew told the media, after a meeting with core members of the Bhumjaithai party this afternoon (Saturday), that they had sought Bhumjaithai’s support for its prime ministerial candidate.

He said that Pheu Thai will not receive support from Bhumjaithai if the eight coalition parties do not accept its condition.

Bhumjaithai party leader Anutin Charnvirakul, meanwhile, thanked the Pheu Thai party for its invitation to discuss the formation of the government and selection of the prime minister.

He described the meeting as cordial, reminding him of the collegiate atmosphere they enjoyed when they were together in the same party.

He also said, however that, if the formation of the government drags on, it would not be good for the country, as the caretaker government works under several constraints and cannot function fully.
