September 30, 2024: The arrest of one online celebrity couple in Thailand for alleged fraud looks like a local incident, but the story is in fact a global cautionary tale.
They say the best way to lie is to include as much “truth” as possible, so everyone will believe what you say. Best cheaters come with their hair combed and beautiful or even inspiring promises in order to gain trust. Demon’s greatest trick is to be able to demonise, and then hide behind goodness.
The celebrity couple of the hour have denied charges, insisting they are innocent. And they have the absolute right to defend themselves. What they allegedly did is just an accusation.
What the authorities accused them of doing, however, followed the universally-successful formula of how to wrap people around your finger. The alleged method is used by junior-most scammers up to the most powerful persons on earth. And the better equipped you are, the better fraud you can pull off.
The Thai couple, allegedly aided by strong media influences and a rags-to-riches inspiring story, drew a great number of followers who trusted them and expected “help” from them. According to the accusers, “help” is anything but.
