September 5, 2024: Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has just asked for the one thing that politics does not have.
The phase “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen” is primarily for politicians, most probably those in her situation _ heavily scrutinised for every related development big or small, unnoticed for any good deed, and having little or no time to prove themselves.
The taunting “nickname” for her Cabinet is harsh, the reason why she’s seeking public sympathybefore her government starts working. “Sueb Sandan” Cabinet implies that her government is full of those about to continue bad habits of their parents. But no government has been given a pleasant nickname.
Politics is like that. Her father certainly knows it. Those around her must have anticipated it. Yet here she is.
When she looks back a few weeks from now, the “Sueb Sandan” nickname could feel like the smallest bump in the road.
