Police are now focusing their cyanide poisoning investigation on the financial transactions in the bank accounts of serial murder suspect Sararat Rangsiwuthaporn, with the amount of money involved totalling about 78 million baht, according to Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn, the deputy national police chief.

He said that about 12 people were involved in the transactions.

To date, 15 arrest warrants have been issued against the suspect in 14 murder cases and one attempted murder case. The latest case concerns the death, from sudden heart failure, of a woman only identified as “Monthathip”, aka “Sai”, in 2015 at a condominium in Bangkok’s Thonglor area.

The suspect has denied all the charges against her and vows to fight the cases in court. She is currently being held on remand at the Central Women’s Correctional Institution in Bangkok.

Surachate said that all the cases are related to Sararat’s debt problems.

Yesterday (Tuesday), police from Bang Pae district in Ratchaburi province searched the house of Sararat’s older sister, who is a pharmacist in Wang Yen sub-district, to look for more evidence.

The materials seized from the house, which included empty capsules and medical equipment, will be sent to the Medical Sciences Department for examination.

The sister admitted that her family has been badly affected by the publicity surrounding the criminal cases, as she maintained her innocence.
